Dear Local Food Community,
I write to you today to announce my resignation as Executive Director of Real Local RVA effective January 17th. It has been a pleasure serving this organization for the last 4 years, and I am extremely thankful for this community and the relationships I have made. Our local food community has grown immensely in the last few years and I know this foodie town will continue to thrive.
Along with my resignation, Real Local RVA would also like to announce some changes within the organization. Libbie Market and Good Foods Grocery will be stepping down from our Leadership Board. Much has changed within the grocery industry as a result of the pandemic, resulting in both Donnie and Sam needing to put increasingly more time and energy towards their respective businesses. Libbie Market and Good Foods Grocery will remain avid participants of both Real Local RVA and the local food movement and will continue to be actively involved. Real Local RVA would like to thank both Libbie Market and Good Foods Grocery, as their participation has been instrumental in growing Real Local RVA into the organization it is today.
Rick Hood of Ellwood Thompson’s and Sally Schwitters will remain as guiding forces for Real Local RVA with some exciting things to come. We ask for your patience as there may be a pause in programming as the organization begins its search for a new Executive Director. You can view the job description here, and if you know anyone who is passionate about the local food movement please send them our way!
I will forever be grateful to all of you who have participated in Real Local RVA, the work we have done and for my time with this organization. Real Local RVA will continue to educate, support and raise awareness of the local food movement and choices in the Greater Richmond area. I am excited for the future of Real Local RVA and all that they will accomplish in our community.
Wishing you all a Happy New Year and best wishes for an amazing 2022!
