Economic Development with Dr. Jewel Bronaugh of VDACS
In October we welcome Dr. Jewel Bronaugh, Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (VDACS). Dr. Bronaugh will provide insight into the current issues impacting agriculture and VDACS role to help expand economic development and environmental stewardship. She will also provide an update on the Farm Bill.
Established in 1877, VDACS promotes the economic growth and development of Virginia agriculture, provides consumer protection and encourages environmental stewardship. Governor Ralph Northam appointed Dr. Bronaugh as the 16th Commissioner of the VDACS in April 2018. Dr. Bronaugh most recently served as the Executive Director of the Center of Agriculture Research, Engagement and Outreach (CAREO) at Virginia State University. She previously served as the Virginia State Executive Director for the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA), where she was appointed by Governor Terry McAuliffe and the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, in July 2015.
We will enjoy samples from O’MY Dairy Free Gelato, and coffee from the Cafe @ St. Stephen’s.
